Dr. Lorriana Markovic, is a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) and a Master of Music (M.M.) in Vocal Performance and of the University of Maryland-College Park with a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in Vocal Performance/Opera.

Dr. Markovic is accomplished performer of opera, art song, and oratorio specializing in the interpretation of Russian vocal music. She is the recipient and winner of many awards and competitions including Vocal Arts Society Discovery Series in DC, Pittsburgh Concert Society, Concours d’InterprÈtation de Musique TchËque et Slovaque in Montreal, a Russian Scholarship to study in Moscow from the University of Pittsburgh and has been presented in recital by The Steinway Society by WQED-FM in Pittsburgh.

Dr. Markovic has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Russia. Locally, she has performed with the Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia, Pittsburgh Opera, Pittsburgh Opera Center, and the Wheeling Symphony. Her roles include Fiordiligi in CosÏ fan tutte, Giulietta in Tales of Hoffmann, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, Frau Fluth in The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Mrs. Soffel in The Biddle Boys and Mrs. Soffel, Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro.

Dr. Markovic is an active member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and is a faculty member at Morgan State University, University of Maryland Baltimore County and the Summer Opera Institute with Washington National Opera.
